Comments	The Act came into force on 3 March 2004 by operation of the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003 (Commencement) Order 2004. The Act does not extend to Scotland, where the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation (Scotland) Act 2005 came into force on 1 September 2005.
