Fair Play Football Cup
The 7-a-side tournament features teams drawn from refugee and community groups, direct provision centres, NGOs and members of the media. Approximately 160 players from a host of different countries, including Angola, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Eritrea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and Ireland, have taken part since its inception.
The 2017 tournament was the biggest to date, with two teams of newly arrived Syrians now living in Co. Roscommon taking part for the first time. The Fair Play Cup is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contribution of refugees to their new homes, and to get to know people who are often hidden behind statistics and news reports from far off places.
