Vocational training for refugees will help them to find further employment

With assistance of UNHCR Kazakhstans new IP - Womens League of Creative Initiative (WLCI) and KRCS a vocational craftsmen training was organized for refugees and asylum-seekers aged 16-29. Participants had an opportunity to acquire the skills of exterior stucco, inner whitewashing, installation of flooring, installation of suspended ceilings, and others. "This training is a wonderful opportunity to gain not only practical skills, but also theoretical knowledge of craftsmanship for refugees. Hopefully, the skills they will have gained by the end of the training will help them in terms of their professional development and employment", underlined Mr. Saber Azam, UNHCR Regional Representative/Regional Coordinator for Central Asia.

The vocational training is the joint project of KAMKOR-XXI Century Fund and a well-known German company KNAUF, which specializes in the production of building materials and construction systems. In total, nine refugees and asylum-seekers (Afghan, Uzbek and Ethiopian communities) have enrolled in the training. Duration of the vocational training is one month and after its completion every trainee who passes the exam will receive a certificate with a possibility of further employment.
