UNHCR does its best to fill vacant international professional positions internally. If no suitable internal candidate is identified, the organization reverts to external recruitment.

Important Notice for General Service and Field Service Category Staff Applying to External Professional Vacancies
While a university degree is a pre-requisite for being considered for a positions in the international professional category, a general service staff member at the GS-6/GS-7 and field service category staff at FS-5 level without a degree but who has six years of UNHCR experience may apply to externally advertised positions and for Talent Pool Profiles and be considered for positions at the P2 level only.
