    While this number may be almost too much to digest, behind it are incredible individual stories of bravery & resilience. Never forget refugees are driven by something most of us take for granted - protecting their families and themselves from danger

    Kakuma United FC represents 20 different countries including Kenya. They remain unbeaten in the first leg of the league and truly exemplify the motto "We are stronger together".

    I also took the opportunity while I was there to make a delivery of football kit - boots, keeping gloves, balls and jerseys donated by Altona City Soccer Club, Sunshine Heights Soccer Club and Their Beautiful Game to Aussie NGO Barefoot to Boots.

    Sadly a monsoon rain storm trapped me on a flooded back road for three hours preventing me from seeing the kit in action - that’s life in a refugee camp - but the team assured me they were greatly appreciated.

    Hugely significant step - one which the private sector can grasp. Turning a place of 200,000 people into a sustainable economy working with others in the local community. - you should be widely commended for this

    We intend to model Kakuma into a municipality and in partnership with humanitarian organisations and the private sector develop lasting infrastructure to support the integration of refugees with host community.

    Kakuma United is a refugee team, from 7 nationalities, playing in Kenya national league. Unbeaten in 9 games. Soon Kakuma Divas will follow suit. Thanks & for their new & kits - handed over on mission

    Thanks - you always prompt constructive humanitarian debate. Great to discuss increasing private sector role in supporting refugee camps & host communities, particularly to give sustainable opportunities to youths.

    A real pleasure to meet Chair together with his from Australia 🇦🇺 who are doing incredible work to make a difference in Kakuma refugee camp. Great to have , Rob & join as well. Ian’s team are true humanitarians.
