Lake has covered a number of international business stories including the collapse of Lehman Brothers and seismic changes across the world of investment banking, the global financial crisis and subsequent U.S. economic recovery, European debt crisis, climate change as well as the latest technology trends impacting consumers and investors in Silicon Valley and beyond.
From Microsoft's Satya Nadella to Ford's Mark Fields and Intel's Brian Krzanich, Lake has interviewed many CEOs from a wide range of professions. She spoke to Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis the day he was elected to his position earlier this year, and recently sat down with Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
In addition to her daily business reporting, Lake has interviewed notable figures across the auto, entertainment, technology and fashion industries including Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, actors Neil Patrick Harris and Hugh Jackman, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and fashion designers Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Jason Wu and Rebecca Minkoff.
Before joining CNN in 2001, Lake worked for eight years at the news agency Reuters. In various reporting roles for Reuters Television in New York she provided coverage of U-S bond, stock and currency markets; interviewed Fortune 500 CEO's and reported on the 1998 global financial crisis. Moving to London in 1999, Lake anchored programs covering top business stories from around the world, including interviews with finance ministers and leading policy officials. Lastly, she served a senior reporter on the print side for Reuters in New York.
Lake holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston University.
