    Kristen Holmes is a national correspondent for CNN Newsource, CNN's network of more than 1,000 affiliates. She is based in CNN's Washington, D.C. bureau.

    Holmes first joined CNN as an intern for Piers Morgan Live after graduating from Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism. After her internship, she became an editorial producer for The Lead with Jake Tapper, a CNN producer in the White House and a CNN producer embedded with the 2016 Trump campaign. While in Washington, D.C., she also worked as a producer on several projects with Katie Couric at Yahoo and with News Channel 8.

    Holmes graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Northwestern University and spent two years as an elementary school teacher in Chicago through Teach for America.
