Margaret Kur: +Maxwell Creasman Oh, yes...like where was the USMNT when the US*W*NT were winning the medals at the Olympics? The last time 2012 the USMNT didn't even qualify and I don't remember them being there in 2008, either. The US*W*NT is the team that's been winning many times for the US, yet even now you who are posting talk as if they don't even exist! Perhaps you should amend your remarks to say the USMNT gives American men's soccer some hope? Can't wait until the women's World Cup next year!

Ignacio Escobedo: US women team has always been, for many years, a power house. It is well known everywhere.
USWNT is respected here and abroad. Just remember the Final vs China in Pasadena and the close to 100,000 people in the venue.
However in the world of football; women tournament is still at much lower level of relevance. Perhaps because, across the world, women did not played it. US and some few countries in Europe have made a difference changing that and promoting it.
In the other hand, The World Cup is the greatest sport event in the world. Exceeding the Olympics. So the advancement and competitiveness of USMNT is a big deal. We are gaining respect slowly. Not there yet, but getting there.

Jeremy Lipps: ESPY's are the worst sports thing ever. Sport comes with built in rewards, MVPs, Championships, etc. Go USA, I don't need +ESPN to validate my joy. Great cup, fellas.
