Marc Sutherland and Natalie Whyte from Aberdeenshire were separated from their son and interviewed by 22 people after repeatedly raising concerns about 'screaming fits'. Health experts had ‘constantly’ told the parents their baby was suffering from colic, a common complaint that means baby’s cry excessively while appearing to be otherwise healthy. But Ms Whyte (pictured, inset, with son Callan) became increasingly concerned by red and purple marks on the infant’s skin (right) and continued to seek advice. But when she told her health visitor about Callan’s latest ‘screaming fit’, Mr Sutherland (pictured, right, with Callan) was arrested, cautioned and questioned as police held him for four hours and the parents were wrongly accused of child abuse.

Melissa Booth, five, suffers from microcephaly, meaning her brain has not developed properly, and has had her hair hacked off by bullies at a Derbyshire school six times since she started (pictured, left, her hair before the bullies got to it and, right, after). A perplexed landlord hit back at a TripAdvisor reviewer who complained customers were speaking Welsh in his Bangor pub. Father-of-two Dan Cross heard his wife Nicola being attacked by schizophrenic Marcin Porczynski after he broke into the couple's home in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Nikki was stabbed 10 times as she tried to protect her two children Stanley, six, and Isabella, three. Mr Cross, who was 200 miles away in Hull, heard his wife pleading for her life over the phone. Under proposals drawn up in Brussels, British holidaymakers could be denied an exemption already granted to dozens of countries outside the bloc - including Venezeula and Ukraine. The EU commission blueprint could mean travellers to the continent having to pay more than £50 for the right paperwork. The mourners arrived for the funeral service on Thursday afternoon at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church in Kansas City with many carrying her iconic handbags. The 55-year-old's husband Andy and her actor brother-in-law David were seen together outside the church. As the service began on Thursday, Kate's family released a statement saying her 89-year-old father Earl F. Brosnahan Jr. had died on the eve of his daughter's funeral. The family said he had been in failing health and had been left 'heartbroken' over his daughter's suicide just over two weeks ago. In a program, inset left, from the service Kate was seen photographed alongside her young daughter Frances who is now 13.

A man's quest to find his biological parents unearthed disturbing secrets about the family he says left him abandoned in a shopping center before he was given to another couple. Paul Fronczak (right) grew up in Chicago with his parents, Dora and Chester Fronczak, and his brother, Dave Fronczak. When Paul was 10 he stumbled upon old newspaper clippings and learned a disturbing secret: he had been kidnapped as a baby. Dora and Chester told Paul that in 1964 when he was one-day-old he was snatched from a Chicago hospital. The couple said they were reunited with him two years later when police in New Jersey found a two-year-old boy who resembled their son abandoned in a shopping center. Because of the lack of DNA and there only being one picture of Paul from when he was born (left), there was no way for Dora and Chester to know for sure if the toddler found alone in a shopping center was actually their son.

President Donald Trump and his eldest son have both tried to shrug off the jacket First Lady Melania wore as she traveled to visit a child detention center as a chorus of celebrities expressed outrage over her tone-deaf style choice. The First Lady wore the $39 green, hooded military jacket from Zara that read 'I really don't care, do u?' when she left for Texas and then returned to Washington on Thursday. Trump took to Twitter soon after claiming his wife was referring to 'the Fake News Media' when she opted to wear the jacket to visit children separated from their families at the border. As the outrage continued, Donald Trump Jr shared an edited version of his step-mother's jacket to his Instagram story. It featured a photo of a crying Robert DeNiro plastered on the back of the jacket with the caption: 'Fixed it!'. Shaz McCormack, 20, (left) from Maidstone, Kent, endured a four-minute convulsion while cooking a roast dinner for her family. She suffered third-degree burns to her hands (top right) and arms (bottom right) and needed skin grafts to repair the injuries. It was only when a neighbour heard the banging next door and called the fire brigade that Ms McCormack was finally rescued. Speaking about her ordeal, Ms McCormack said: 'I've been left scarred all over my hands which I'm very self-conscious about. Despite her injuries healing (inset top right, inset bottom right) she still feels self-conscious and covers her scars up.

A Syrian girl has prosthetic legs made by her father out of tin cans and pieces of cloth. Maya, 8, was born without lower limbs and is living with her father in a displacement camp in Idlib, near the Turkish border. The pair fled Aleppo because of and were unable to afford real prosthetics. The girl's father, who also has no lower limbs, says that it is his dream for them both to walk again.

Freelee the Banana Girl (pictured left and right now and inset before she moved) fled 'western civilisation' twelve months ago to live a new life in the South American jungle with her partner. Known for being a public activist for the raw vegan diet, the controversial Queenslander, 37, has shared new photos sans makeup and naked in a tree to explain why she enjoys an 'off grid' lifestyle. NEW Malin Wahlberg had to fend off a series of Swedish fans who draped their arms around her back and kissed her during a broadcast in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. Despite having her hair ruffled and the distraction of boisterous Swedish fans bouncing in the background she carried on professionally with the broadcast. Ms Wahlberg was presenting live coverage ahead of Sweden's fixture against South Korea when she was bothered by the travelling fans. It comes after a Colombian journalist was groped and kissed by a Russian fan in Saransk in what the fan has claimed was a failed attempt to touch her shoulder.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are visiting Salisbury today in the hope to give the city 'a boost' following the nerve agent attack in March. Sergei Skripal, 66, and his 33-year-old daughter Yulia (pictured inset) were left fighting for their lives in hospital after being found unconscious on a park bench in the city on March 4. Local leaders are hoping to encourage the return of tourists and shoppers to the city.

Incredible footage has emerged of the desperate fight to save a dog from being strangled to death and eaten by a massive python. A group of men were filmed doing all they can to fight to the massive reptile coiled tightly around the dog, who eventually stops struggling and is presumed dead. But the men don't give up

Hillary Harris, 31, from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, knew her sibling was called Dawn Johnson (far left, with Hillary) - and decided to ask her neighbor about her father after seeing her full name. Dawn, 50, confirmed her suspicions that they did indeed share the same father, Wayne Clouse (inset, with Dawn as a baby), who died in 2002. Hillary (far right, with her daughter Stella and Dawn) had spent years trying to track down her long-lost siblings with no luck, until Dawn moved in next door a year ago.

Jack Pattillo, an actor and internet personality from Austin, Texas, was enjoying some time with his friends in Disneyland when he took to Twitter to share a photo of them enjoying some soft serve ice cream, writing: 'Doing Disneyland right.' Twitter user Tristin Lazarus responded to the photo by accusing Jack of discrimination, commenting: 'Could you hire any POC? This picture is so white it’s making me squint. Disgusting.' Jack's friend's responded by listing their diverse ethnicities alongside photos of themselves, and plenty of people were happy to see Tristin get called out.

Author HE Bates (top left, at the house) lived in The Granary in the Kent village of Little Chart for more than 40 years and used the surroundings as inspiration for the stories of Pop Larkin and his family (right). The idea came from a colourful character Bates saw in the local shop who turned up with a wad of rubber-banded bank notes and spoiled his trailer-load of children with ice creams. After the writer's death in 1974, his TV producer son Richard acquired the rights for the TV adaptation of the 1958 novel. Hayley Stamper from Lincoln, Nebraska, invited her ex to her wedding - and he responded 'yes' while also joking that he wanted the song I Loved Her First by Heartland to be played at the celebration. The 21-year-old laughed at her ex's clever response and posted it on Twitter for other people to see. 'My ex boyfriend just RSVP'd to my wedding and look at the song he requested,' Hayley wrote on Twitter with a picture of the RSVP card (left) last week. People online thought the response was clever and it has since been liked more than 100,000 times. Dog lovers across the UK have been bringing their pets in to the workplace to mark Bring Your Dog to Work Day - and sharing very cute snaps of their new colleagues. The photos capture pooches on swivel chairs, propped up beside keyboards, or simply curled up for a nap across a desk. The event was launched in 2014 by dog charity Hownd and all proceeds raised go to dog rescue charity All Dogs Matter, which re-homes hundreds of dogs in the UK every year.

Shocking footage shows a 175lb pitbull launch an attack on his owner in a training exercise. The footage shows Marlon Grennan, 31, sitting in a chair wearing a bite suit as his dog can be seen snarling on a leash held by an assistant. The dog is then allowed off the leash and he is seen viciously biting his arm. Grennan runs a dog protection home in New Hampshire.

A police riot van was despatched to a park in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands after five reports came in of a man carrying a rifle. They arrived and pounced on amateur musician Mark Sleigh (left), 39. The bemused law-enforcers discovered the 4ft-long object was actually a home-made plastic didgeridoo. Mr Sleigh, a father of one, had taken the instrument to the park to play in the tunnels. The officers saw the funny side and posed for a selfie (right).

Nail-biting footage shows the moment a stunt man face plants while performing a bike flip down a ramp. A shocked crowd watched on as 26-year-old Todd Meyn was unable to make his landing and flipped over the handlebars during travelling stunt show Nitro Circus in Victoria, Australia.

Portrait photographs show women of the Apatani tribe in Ziro Valley, located in a remote part of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The images show their nose plugs, a form of body modification originally intended to make females of the tribe less attractive and therefore less likely to be kidnapped by their enemies. Lebanese photographer Omar Reda, 33, took the photographs while travelling in north-east India, spending three days with a hundred of the Apatani people in their settlement.

A historic fort is up for sale for £1.2m as the ultimate 'fixer-upper' - complete with a 16ft-deep moat. The 20-sided fort in Pembroke Dock, named The Defensible Barracks, was built for the British military more than 150 years ago. It was declared the second most endangered Victorian or Edwardian building in England and Wales in 2009, and part of the property has already been converted into flats.
