About

    Z. Byron Wolf, who goes by Zach, serves as digital director of CNN Politics. In addition to his leadership role, Wolf writes regular political analysis for CNNPolitics.com and is a frequent guest on CNN's Early Start. He was managing editor of digital politics during the 2016 presidential election after joining CNN in July 2013 as a senior planning editor.

Before coming to CNN, Wolf was senior political editor and deputy political director for ABC News. He also covered the Senate as a producer for the network, daily contributor to ABCNews.com and reporter for ABC News NOW. The change-over from Republican to Democratic control of Congress in 2006 and the health care reform debate in 2009 and 2010 are bookends for his time on Capitol Hill. In between, he covered every subject considered by the Senate.

On the trail, Wolf covered Ron Paul's presidential campaign for ABC in 2008 as a digital journalist -- one of the few reporters extensively covering what became a precursor to the Tea Party movement.

Wolf also worked as an assignment editor in ABC's Washington Bureau and as a freelance producer in California, where he is from and one day hopes to return. He graduated from UC Berkeley.
