According to the Embassy of Bolivia in Ottawa, applicants for emigration must present a fiscal document showing that they do not owe money to the state (24 Feb. 1994). Moreover, applicants must produce a "certificate of identity" and a certificate of birth (ibid.). A prospective emigrant could travel on either a Bolivian passport or a travel document issued by another country (ibid.). The embassy could not comment on whether prospective emigrants are investigated for a criminal record. The embassy has inquired on this matter to the Bolivian Foreign Affairs Ministry; any response received will be forwarded to you.
