Every citizen is obliged to do military service from the age of 16 to the age of 60, with the exception of members of the government, judiciary and clergy, and others deemed indispensable to the state or physically or ethically unfit.1

Military service in the Voluntary Military Force (Corpi Militari Voluntar) is voluntary. No information on the minimum age of recruitment to this force was found. It performs ceremonial duties and provides limited assistance to the police.2
