For information on anti-Semitic incidents in Georgia, the response of the authorities to some of these incidents, and the Caucasus Network and its president, please consult the attached facsimile sent to the DIRB on 6 August 1996 by the president of the Caucasus Network in Esopus, New York. Please note that page eight of the facsimile states that "this report is based upon letters and documents in the files of The Caucasus Network. The incidents have not been independently verified." (The Caucasus Network 6 Aug. 1995).
In telephone interviews on 7 and 8 August 1996, the president elaborated on the contents of the 6 August 1996 facsimile. The president stated that anti-Semitic incidents are listed in the order they are received by the Caucasus Network from its sources in Georgia and from the Georgian émigré communities in Israel and the USA. The entries were received by the Caucasus Network from June 1994 to May 1995. A small number of those entries refer to incidents that occurred before June 1994, but the majority refer to incidents that occurred after that date.
