The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) is Canada's largest independent administrative tribunal, responsible for making well-reasoned decisions on immigration and refugee matters efficiently, fairly and in accordance with the law. It consists of three divisions: the Refugee Protection Division; the Immigration Division; and the Immigration Appeal Division. Bulgaria/Turkey: 1) Would a family who emigrated from Bulgaria to Turkey in 1975 and obtained Turkish citizenship lose their Bulgarian citizenship? 2) Would they retain the Bulgarian citizenship up to the point at which they assumed Turkish citizenship? 3) Are they entitled to Bulgarian citizenship today?
