Reports on whether the Kingdom of Swaziland and Nigeria have entered into an agreement which permits dual citizenship between the two countries could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Swaziland in Washington DC, did not provide information on the subject. However, the following information may be of interest.
According to Country Reports 2002,
Citizenship law nominally permits nonethnic Swazis to obtain passports and citizenship documents; however, individuals seeking these documents sometimes experienced lengthy processing delays, in part due to occasional prejudice that mixed-race and white persons were not real Swazis ... Political dissenters often had their citizenship questioned and could experience difficulty in obtaining travel documents (31 Mar. 2003).
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
