Recent reports of corruption among security personnel at an international airport in Mexico can be found in Response MEX31278.E of 9 March 1999. The information provided therein is corroborated in the February 1999 International Narcotics Control Strategy Report of the United States Department of State, which states that "in August 1998, 14 enlisted personnel of the elite Airmobile Special Forces Groups (GAFES) assigned to the Mexico City airport were arrested on charges of drug trafficking and alien smuggling."
