Information on public protests by dismissed customs officers in Plaza Angel de la Independencia between April and August 1996 could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

Please note that one article on public protests in Mexico City in December 1996 states that at least 1,522 demonstrations were recorded in the first nine months of that year, with at least five marches or protests per day" involving a total of more than half a million people (Washington Post 2 Dec. 1996). Another article published in September 1996 reported that "there are 12 to 15 protests a day" (San Antonio Express News 1 Sept. 1996).
