Australia: Refugee Review Tribunal

The Refugee Review Tribunal was a statutory body which provided a final, independent, merits review of decisions made by the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship or, in practice, by officers of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), acting as delegates of the Minister, to refuse to grant protection visas to non-citizens within Australia, or to cancel protection visas held by non-citizens in Australia. The Tribunal was established in 1993 under Part 7 of the Act and replaced the Refugee Status Review Committee (RSRC). On 1 July 2015 the Refugee Review Tribunal was amalgamated into the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.  Website: www.aat.gov.au/

Fiji: 1. Please give a general description of the current relationship between the Interim Government and the Methodist Church and its impact on the lives of Fijian Methodists. 2. What restrictions, if any, are placed on ordinary members of the Methodist Church? 3. Would a family member of a local church steward be at any greater risk of harm than any other ordinary member of the church? 4. Would a Minister in the Methodist Church of Fiji ever refer to himself as the ‘Chief Priest' of a ‘Church Circuit'?

Fiji: 1. Please advise whether there are incidents of domestic or family violence where an Indian-Fijian Muslim female in a relationship with an Australian Christian would be in danger from her family. 2.
