Solutions Alliance Somalia (SAS) held its second meeting of all relevant stakeholders for a discussion on finding durable solutions for the displaced of Somalia on 29 January 2016. The first such meeting which launched SAS took place in March last year in Nairobi and was very well supported. This meeting is particularly timely in light of RC/HC Peter de Clercq’s focus on solutions for internally displaced alongside the work of the UNHCR/Kenya/Somalia Tripartite Commission, the UNHCR /IOM-led Inter-agency Task Force on Somali refugee returns from Yemen, and potential returns of Somali refugees from other countries of asylum including Ethiopia, Uganda, Eritrea and Djibouti. The meeting featured presentations of the work of Solutions Alliance Somalia as well as other ongoing initiatives with a particular focus on how to integrate durable solutions in the New Deal Framework as well as the post-2016 Development Framework for Somalia. This was an important opportunity to prepare for the Solutions Alliance 2016 Roundtable in Brussels early February. More information on the event can be found on the ReDSS website.
