The Democratic Party for Progress-Angolan National Alliance (PDP-ANA), supports the creation of a federal state of Angola, is reportedly one of the small political movements that are represented in the Angolan Parliament (AFP 28 Apr. 1999).
The Political Handbook of the World 1999 states that it is "a right-of-center humanist grouping led by a prominent university professor, Nfulumpinga Lando Victor, who was previously affiliated with the FNLA (Front for the National Liberation of Angola) (1999, 34).
On 6 March 2000, Angola's national oil company Sonangol, announced a 50 per cent increase in the price of fuel (Namibian 10 Apr. 2000). According to PANA, the PDP-ANA was among the opposition parties that announced that they would participate in a "massive demonstration" scheduled to take place on 10 March in Luanda, the capital of Angola (8 Mar. 2000).
No reports on the treatment of PDP-ANA members by the government or on a 12 March 2000 demonstration to commemorate the Bakongo victims of Blood Friday could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
