About Douglas

British actor Douglas Booth has recently returned from the Kurdistan Region – Iraq.  He visited Iraqi families who had just arrived in newly built camps for those fleeing Mosul, and Syrian refugees who fled their homes and country several years ago to escape conflict.

Douglas has been posting photos and stories from his time in Iraq on Instagram and over the coming days and weeks we will be updating this page with more from Douglas’ visit so please stay tuned.

Douglas has been supporting UNHCR since 2015.  Previously he has travelled with UNHCR to the Greek island of Lesvos to meet refugees who made the perilous journey across the Aegean to seek safety in Europe.

Douglas has highlighted the work of UNHCR in extensive media interviews and has helped shine a spotlight on the global refugee crisis via his social media channels. Douglas has supported key UNHCR fundraising events and campaigns including World Refugee Day, the iBelong campaign to end statelessness, and the Nansen Refugee Award. In addition he has featured in film projects, including 'Words Matter’- highlighting the important difference between refugees and migrants and the different protection they are entitled to under international law - and 'What They Took With Them' alongside fellow actors Cate Blanchett, Keira Knightley, Peter Capaldi, Stanley Tucci, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kit Harington, Douglas Booth, Jesse Eisenberg, Juliet Stevenson, and writer Neil Gaiman.
