My mom used to buy me a paddle ball to play with and once it broke I got it across my ass when I misbehaved

yeah and coat hangers and belts using the buckle end, and the list goes on and on....whatever she got her hands on....today's standards, someone would be going to jail.......did it make me more respectful and responsible, maybe....but it left emotional scars that I still struggle with.....the daily beatings are not discipline, that is abuse....sorry, but just my opinion....walk a mile in my or anyone else's shoes who have been abused, then you can judge..........and verbal abuse hurts as much if not more than the physical beatings...

There are many ways to discipline a child without hitting. The parent is out of control when they hit. All you are doing is using physical force to subdue a child instead of telling them why their behavior is wrong and what the consequences are for the choices they made. Maybe, the lesson we are teaching it is okay for boys to grow up and use force to beat their wives and girls to believe they deserve to be beaten.

My son would hide the spoon under the mattress. Once I sent him out for s switch, (to give me time to calm down), he came back dragging a 2 x 4. I am still laughing.

Had welts from these parental disciplinary tools (weapons)!
Can't tell you how many were broken in the pursuit of discipline in my childhood home in the 60's&70's! Who out there was also whipped with a section of orange HotWheels track!? YIKES!
Now those... left WELTS!
How times have changed. For the better, in my opinion. Children should definitely be raised with disciple, rules & consequences. But there's no need for any type of physical abuse of kids! None!
You can be lazy & react with violence...
or you can be a loving, patient & mature adult & parent, and give them guidance & love when they do wrong or stray. Encouragement & positive lessons & modeling good behavior. Help kids to grow & understand & learn from their mistakes. I just don't see how beating a small child, even spanking them, is something that's going to have a long term positive result in their lives.
💔Love shouldn't hurt!💔That's an important lesson!
Be kind! Be positive in your parenting. What can a small child do, that's so awful that you would feel the need to strike them! I believe children develop in a healthier way when they are guided and disciplined in a positive, loving and respectful way.
Taught to do what is right, because it's right!
Not out of fear, if you do something wrong!
Patience & love!
We wonder why men become abusers & women become punching bags & doormats. Let's raise a generation of kind, patient & righteous children! Each generation learns from the past.
When we know better...
We have to do better!
Children are my favorite kind of people!!! 💕

People wonder why the rate of anxiety and depression have gone through the roof, more teen suicide than ever before.
Along with the rest of the list of "unknown mental illnesses"

Using fear and pain as a form of control to gain respect and trust isn't than answer.

It makes dogs be viscous and attack, why wouldn't it for humans?

Peace.

I know it's hard to understand, but children are human beings too... Would you beat your spouse if they did something you didn't like?

If I can train 4 dogs without laying a hand on them, surely an adult should be able to do the same with a child you can communicate with...
