One report named Reverend Michaux Lukonga as the "young Assemblies of God Pastor" who "led his congregation at the Bread of Life Church in Kinshasa in a prayer for peace" (New York Times 6 Aug. 2002). Neither this report nor other sources consulted by the Research Directorate provided further information on this church, including its leaders and problems they might have had in August 2001.

Regarding the participation of pastors in the inter-Congolese dialogue, the Director General of the National Centre for Development and Popular Participation (Centre national d'appui au développement et à la participation populaire-CENADEP), a Kinshasa-based non-governmental organization, stated during a 23 April 2003 telephone interview that different Congolese churches, including the catholic, protestant, traditional and Muslim faiths, were represented during the inter-Congolese dialogue.

Without specifying the churches that they belong to, the Congonline Website provided the names of the following representatives of Congolese churches who participated in the inter-Congolese dialogue: His Eminence Frédéric Cardinal Etsou; Rev. Luntadila Ndalazafwa; Bishop Kankienza; Mgr. Simon Nzinga Maluka; Rev. Dr. Jean-Luc Kuye-Ndondo wa Mulemera; Mgr Ngoy Kasukuti; Mgr. Philippe Dinzolele Nzambi; Mgr. Masimango Katanda; Abbé Richard Loleha Okito; El Hadj Mudilo wa Malemba and Mgr. Marini Bodho (n.d.).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
