German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said Europe can no longer rely on the US and the UK after the election of President Trump and Brexit. Europe wanted friendly relations with both countries and others such as Russia but now had to "take its fate in its own hands", she said. Mrs Merkel was speaking at an election campaign event in Bavaria, southern Germany.
The chancellor wants good relations with the US and UK but says Europe must fight for its future.
