An official at the Embassy of the Sudan in Ottawa told the DIRB that the Sudanese Nationality Act of 1957 has been rewritten, with only minor changes made to the original. The Embassy does not currently have a copy of the new Act.

According to the same representative, the foreign-born wife of a Sudanese national, who acquired Sudanese nationality after marriage, would not lose her Sudanese nationality upon divorce. This information could not be corroborated by the other sources consulted by the DIRB.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
