Middle East and North Africa Civil Society Network for Displacement

Yemen, 5, and her mother, Dayane, 24, are pictured at their home in northern Lebanon. On a cold night in November 2013, Yemen ran into the kitchen, petrified by the sound of the bombs that were falling around their house in Yabroud, Syria. In the commotion, she ran into the stove and knocked over a pot with boiling water that fell on her.

The Middle East and North Africa region continues to pose overwhelming challenges, with multiple and complex emergency situations on an unprecedented scale.

The humanitarian situation in Syria remains volatile. After more than five years of conflict, there are over four million Syrian refugees in the region and counting.

Elsewhere, violence and instability in countries such as Iraq and Yemen is triggering new waves of displacement. Across the region, our staff deliver life-saving assistance to millions who have been driven from their homes.
