Judith Kerr is a German-born British writer and illustrator best known for her children’s fiction includingMog and The Tiger Who Came To Tea’.

Judith Kerr was born on 14 June 1923 in Berlin but escaped from Hitler’s Germany with her parents and brother in 1933 when she was nine years old. The family passed through Switzerland and France before arriving finally in England in 1936. She lives in London.

“My parents never belonged anywhere. Their lives were destroyed, I suppose. They always felt an enormous gratitude, as I do, to this country.”
