The following attachments provide information on the current drug-trafficking situation in Karachi: 24 September 1995 Plain Dealer and 18 April 1995 Providence Journal-Bulletin articles and the 30 July 1995 AFP report.

Other attached articles covering the period 1991 to 1995 provide information on a variety of issues pertaining to drug-trafficking in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, including government crackdowns on drug-traffickers, drug-related violence, imposition of the death penalty on drug traffickers and allegations about a link between some politicians and drug traffickers.

Sources consulted by the DIRB do not provide information on the Anti-Narcotics Association of Pakistan (ANAP).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
