A top Afghan security official is due in Islamabad on June 26 for talks on deepening security cooperation between the two states.
The scheduled visit by Rangin Dadfar Spanta to the Pakistani capital comes amid an ongoing Pakistani offensive against militants in a border region.
The North Waziristan region has long been a stronghold of Taliban and foreign militants who use it as a base to launch attacks against NATO troops in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have accused each other of failing to act against the militants.
Pakistan launched its latest offensive on June 15, a week after militants attacked the Karachi airport, killing dozens.
At least 470,000 people already have fled to nearby parts of Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan in one of Pakistan's biggest displacements of civilians in years.
