In a 12 February 1998 telephone interview with the Research Directorate, an official of the the Federal Republic of Ethiopia in Ottawa stated that there are no special procedures for processing citizenship applications of Somalis with one Ethiopian parent and that all applicants receive the same treatment.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
