According to the Director of Communications at the Alliance française headquarters in Paris, there are two Alliance française schools in Ethiopia: one in Addis Ababa and the other in Dire Dawa (7 June 1999). The schools give day and evening courses in French as a foreign language (ibid.).

No reports on whether students must be citizens of Ethiopia or have official residence status in Ethiopia nor on the cost of tuition could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
