Iraqi security forces and Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents continued fighting on January 31 as thousands more people fled their homes in Anbar Province.
RFE/RL's Radio Free Iraq (RFI) reports that security forces and their Sunni tribesmen allies retook control of some northern parts of Ramadi previously held by militants, including the Albu Farraj district.
Elsewhere, military officials said clashes in and around Fallujah left some 40 insurgents dead.
RFI reported that at least four soldiers were killed when a bomb exploded at a military barracks in nearby Hit.
Hundreds of more civilians have fled Fallujah and taken refuge in mosques and schools in Hit, RFI reported.
Meanwhile, in Baghdad, three rockets hit the capital's heavily guarded international airport.
One rocket reportedly landed on a runway, but no one was reported injured.
