The attached section, from Jean Bunel's article "Argentine: L'Action Syndicale d'Entreprise" in Problèmes d'Amérique Latine (1990, 75-77), explains the workings of the personería gremial, the device through which labour union status and powers are granted in Argentina, and through which the Ministry of Labour is also able to suspend union status and take over provisional direction of a union under certain circumstances.
A second attached section, from Trade Unions of the World 1989-1990 (1989, 10-11) gives further background on recent union legislation in Argentina.
Further information on the subject is currently unavailable to the IRBDC.
