A representative of the High Commission for the Republic of Kenya in Ottawa stated that unless they are prohibited immigrants, Ugandans do not require visas to enter Kenya (7 Sept. 1994). However, the representative was unable to offer clarification of who constitutes a "prohibited immigrant" (ibid.). She explained that generally, non-Kenyans regardless of nationality are permitted an initial three-month residence. Upon application to the Ministry of the Interior and at the discretion of immigration authorities, an extension may be granted but the maximum period of stay is six months (ibid.) Should an individual wish to prolong his or her stay beyond this period, he or she must leave the country and re-apply for re-entry. The representative also stated that she is unaware of movement restrictions involving Ugandans (ibid.).
