Information on the length of time passengers spent in Rome could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB. However, for related information on the arrival time from Tirana and on the departure times from Rome, please consult pages 1416 and 1688 of this attachment.

                Passengers changed aircraft in Rome; the aircraft on the Tirana to Rome route was a McDonnell Douglas DC9, while a McDonnell Douglas DC9 was not used for the Rome to Toronto flights (Official Airline Guides Nov. 1994 4, 7-8, 1416, 1688).

According to article two, section nine of the Travel Information Manual of November 1994 (179), transit visas valid for 48 hours may be issued to those passengers who arrive in Italy and who exit Italy on the first available flight within 48 hours. Albania is not one of the countries listed in sections 23 and 24 on page 180 of this manual whose citizens are required to possess transit visas prior to arrival in Italy (ibid.).

Information on whether passengers passed through Italian customs and immigration, and on whether Italian authorities placed any mark in the transiting passengers' passports, could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.
