As indicated in Response to Information Request GUY13975 of 27 April 1993, based on information provided by an officer with the High Commission for Guyana in Ottawa, a person who renounces his or her Guyanese nationality in order to acquire a new nationality can enter Guyana if holding a valid passport, and depending on his or her current nationality, a visa (27 Apr. 1993). The person who renounces Guyanese nationality will enjoy full rights as a Guyanese national if he or she reacquires Guyanese nationality. The procedure for applying to regain Guyanese nationality is explained in the above-cited Response.
Please find attached a section of the Constitution of Guyana referring to Guyanese citizenship (referred to as nationality in this and the above-cited Response).
Additional and/or corroborating information could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB.
