GOVERNMENT
National Recruitment Legislation and Practice
The government has stated that there is no conscription in Swaziland and that military service is on a voluntary basis.1817 According to information received by UNICEF from the Ministry of Defence, the minimum age for recruitment and conscription is 18 years. Recruitment is regulated by the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Order of 1977.
