For information on the acquisition of Sri Lankan citizenship by marriage, please consult Part III ("Citizenship by Registration"), in particular Section 12 ("Registration of spouse, widow or widower of citizen of Ceylon"), of the Citizenship Act of Sri Lanka of 15 November 1948. This Citizenship Act includes amendments up to and including 2 April 1993.
