Kyrgyzstan says it has detained a Turkish journalist in Bishkek on suspicion of belonging to an Islamist terrorist organization.
The Kyrgyz security services have said Ali Osman Zor was a member of the Great Eastern Islamic Raiders Front, which seeks the establishment of a Caliphate in the Middle East.
Reports said Zor was detained on May 2 in response to a request from Turkey.
He had arrived in Kyrgyzstan last year, where he has been working as a journalist for Turkish media, and applied for political asylum citing alleged persecution by Turkish authorities.
Zor has called for an overthrow of the Turkish government.
