In a 16 May 2003 telephone interview, the manager of a radio station in Apurimac stated that he was aware of a musical group called Los Proletarios de Apurimac that existed about 15 years ago. The manager believed that the group hailed from Chalhuanca and that they sang "folkloric music for the people" (musica folklorico por el pueblo) (Manager 16 May 2003). He also thought that the group's music was not political; instead it was a vernacular (vernacula) style of music (ibid.). The source could not provide further information.
