No report on threats against residents of Gaza who attend public meetings and actively support the peace process could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
However, the Palestinian Authority has detained several members of the Hamas movement which opposes the peace process with Israel (India Times 24 Sept. 2000; AFP 2 Feb. 2000; AFP 31 Jan. 2000).
