General information on the right of a male national of another Latin American country to Panamanian nationality via marriage to a Panamanian national, the residency requirements, provisions of nationality via marriage and period they have been in effect, could not be obtained from the Embassy of Panama within the time constraints for this Response to Information Request.

However, for information on the process by which a foreigner married to a Panamanian citizen may obtain resident status and citizenship and the effect that separation or divorce can have on the residence or citizenship status, please consult PAN30184.E of 9 October 1998.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints.
