According to a representative of the Ministry of Justice in the Hague, the normal procedures for asylum seekers would also apply to seamen refugee claimants (15 Feb. 1994).

For information on this procedure, please consult the attached document on the Dutch asylum system. A representative of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Ottawa indicated that the information provided in the attached document is current, the only modification being to the appeal procedure (14 Feb. 1994).

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
