Comments The Convention was adopted on 19 December 1988 by the United Nations Conference for the Adoption of a Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, which met in Vienna from 25 November to 20 December 1988. It was opened for signature on 20 December 1988, in accordance with its provisions, until 28 February 1989 at the United Nations Office at Vienna and, subsequently, until 20 December 1989, at the Headquarters of the United Nations at New York, the Secretary-General of the United Nations being the depositary.
