Serbia's Foreign Ministry has confirmed that a citizen of Serbia was kidnapped in Libya over the weekend.
The report comes two months after two Serbs who worked at the country's embassy in Libya were killed while being held hostage.
The ministry did not immediately provide details on April 26 about the identity of the man who was taken hostage on April 23 or 24.
But the Belgrade newspaper Vecernje Novosti reported that the abductee was 36-year-old Miroslav Tomic, an oil worker with the German company Ferrostaal.
Ferrostaal supplies and maintains oil pipelines in Libya.
Vecernje Novosti said Tomic was thought to have been kidnapped by a criminal group in Libya near the Messina oil field, about 1,200 kilometers south of Tripoli.
