A source from the Embassy of Honduras in Ottawa stated that

there are a number of Honduran residence categories for aliens,

each with specific conditions or limitations (3 Sept. 1991). The

source added that an alien outside Honduras with an expired visa

or without a valid residence visa and who wishes to reside in

Honduras would have to apply for such a visa at a Honduran

Consulate. The Consulate would review the application to ensure

that the applicant meets the legal requirements for the visa

being requested (Ibid.).

The same source added that an alien who is already in

Honduras and wishes to become a resident or formalize their legal

status as a resident would have to apply to the pertinent local

authorities, which are the Ministerio de Gobernación (equivalent

of Ministry of the Interior), the district's Consejo

Metropolitano (equivalent of City Hall) and the Ministerio de

Relaciones Exteriores (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The

procedure is usually carried out by lawyers and other specialized

persons (Ibid.).

Additional and/or corroborating information on the requested

subject could not be found among the sources currently available

to the IRBDC.
