For information on this specific subject, please refer to the attached copy of the Greek Nationality Code.

According to an official of the Greek Embassy in Ottawa, the Greek Nationality Code has not been amended since 1970 (20 Sept. 1993). The official explained that since this individual wants to know her/his Greek citizenship status, it follows that the individual has no documentation stating her/his Greek citizenship, in which case, the requirements for Greek citizenship as stated in the Nationality Code would apply (Ibid.).

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
