Information specific to this subject is not currently available to the DIRB. However, please find attached an article from the RFE/RL Research Report on the Gagauz in Moldova. According to this article, in May 1991 moderate leaders of the Gagauz minority put forth a proposal to the Moldovan government for establishing a Gagauz homeland (14 Aug. 1992, 14). The article also indicates that during the spring and summer of 1991 the Moldovan government "continued to make concessionary gestures" towards the Gagauz minority (Ibid., 15).
