Please find attached some documents that contain references to the Sabeans or Sabaeans. The documents indicate that the Sabeans are one of the religious minorities of Iraq, which, together with other non-Muslim religions, comprise approximately five percent of the population of that country (Middle East Watch 1990, xiii). The Sabaeans are described by the Encyclopaedia Britannica as "a people of South Arabia in pre-Islamic times, founders of the kingdom of Saba', biblical Sheba" (Vol. 7, 278).
