There is no mention of Borcali among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

There is no mention of an Azeri-language newspaper named Internews among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. However, there is a reference to Internews, "a US-based non-governmental organization assisting media development in more than 20 countries around the world" which has had a representative office in Baku since 1997 (Internews Azerbaijan Bulletin Nov. 2001, 2). For more information on Internews, please see its Website at . Located at 370000, 58 Nizami Str. 3rd floor, Baku, Internews Azerbaijan is funded for the most part by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) (ibid.). Internews Azerbaijan's Website, available in Azeri, English and Russian at , describes the office's goals and activities as follows:

Our goal is to improve freedom, democracy and understanding between nations and cultural groups through media. This is accomplished through improving the professionalism of journalists through training, providing equipment grants to boost technical capabilities and working closely with broadcasters to ensure objectivity in news productions.

During these years we have produced numerous television programs ranging from a regional South Caucasus news exchange to an environmental program to one of our most popular shows, the Baku-Yerevan Space Bridge, which focused on conflict resolution between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

We have also begun an exciting new project around the world called the Global Internet Policy Initiative (GIPI). This project aims to work with governments to protect freedom of the Internet and to ensure access to this powerful information tool to as many people as possible (n.d.).

Among other features, the Website includes news provided by the information agency TURAN and monthly bulletins about the organization's activities (Internews Azerbaijan n.d.). No information as to whether Internews Azerbaijan's publications are available in Iran could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

Described by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty as "the official paper of the eponymous ruling party" (16 Nov. 2001), Yeni Azerbaycan is a daily periodical with a circulation of 3,218 (JuHI n.d.). Its office is located at 146 Metbuat Avenue, Baku 370146 (ibid.). Articles of the current issue are available in Azeri on the daily's Website at . No information as to whether Yeni Azerbaycan is distributed in Iran could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
